Tumour Genomic Profiling and its impact on patients

17 November 2023

Music to their ears or a slap in the face? This forum explores patients' experiences who have received Tumour Genomic Profiling (TGP) results and how best to support their needs.

Tumour Genomic Profiling (TGP) shows increasing clinical utility in informing personalised cancer management plans.

Receiving a TGP result could be a relief to some and a shock to others. Evidence remains limited on patients' real-world experiences and needs in this setting, including psychosocial support, patient autonomy and informed consent.

The Precision Oncology Forum series provides opportunities to discuss new research topics and interesting and novel cases illustrating the clinical implications of molecular pathology and targeted therapies. Cases are discussed on an individual, de-identified basis.

The VCCC Alliance Precision Oncology Forum is chaired by Dr Stephen Luen, Medical Oncologist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Aim: To improve the patient experience of Tumour Genomic Profiling (TGP).

Learning objective: In this session, you will gain a greater insight into the patient experience of Tumour Genomic Profiling (TGP) results and how best patient needs can be supported.

Content warning: The VCCC Alliance Precision Oncology Forum is aimed primarily at a clinical audience and features open discussion about real cases and patients. While these cases are de-identified, the imagery, content and discussion can be graphic.
