MRI to determine treatment in Breast Cancer – what the evidence shows and what the patients want
23 Aug 2023
Up to 20% of treating teams recommend a breast MRI for patients with a new diagnosis of breast cancer, but there is considerable variation availability.
Patient-reported outcome measures are now providing additional and rich information to determine the best use of MRI in newly diagnosed patients.
The Breast MRI Evaluation study, led by Professor Christobel Saunders, is exploring the best way to use breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to improve both treatment options and patient outcomes in women recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Dr Julia Matheson, as part of Breast Cancer Trials 2023 Clinical Fellowship program, is assessing the participant experience of undergoing MRI, using patient reported outcome measures( PROMs) as part of an extension of the Breast MRI Evaluation Study.
This session is Chaired by Associate Professor Anita Skandarajah, Breast and Endocrine Surgeon, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The University of Melbourne
Aim: This webinar will address the role of MRI in women with newly diagnosed breast cancer.
Learning Objective: In this session, you will gain a greater understanding of the role of breast MRIs with supporting insights from ongoing studies.
