This practical workshop provides an introduction to literature searching.

Literature searches are an important way of identifying research to support evidence-based practice, guideline development, professional development and further research. This session covers the following topics:

  • turning a question onto a search strategy

  • choosing search terms

  • search tips and accessing medical and health databases

It describes basis and more advanced techniques for conducting a systematic search.

Geoff Hill, Clinical Librarian, Royal Melbourne Hospital

Geoff Hill is a clinical librarian at the Health Science Library. He provides support to evidence-based practice and research for all staff of Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Women's Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Victorian Mental Health services. Prior to becoming a librarian Geoff worked in allied health for many years.
