Listening to a recording of a consultation with their health provider can help patients remember and understand what was discussed while giving them the opportunity to share information about a diagnosis or treatment regime with family members. New technologies to facilitate consultation recording are being developed globally - including the SECOND Ears smartphone app. This presentation explores the legal questions the SECOND Ears app has raised, and the results of a comprehensive analysis of Australian law pertaining to consultation recording.
